Career planning activities + Online Resources
Career counselling and advising can be done in different ways including working with students individually or in groups. When working with groups of students, it is important to limit the group to approximately six to ten students so that they are comfortable with each other and feel free to contribute their questions and comments within the group. The usual process of career planning activities involve facilitating greater self-awareness, linking individuals to resources containing labour market information, increasing awareness of options available, assisting with the decision-making process, and teaching job search strategies.

The activities acquaint students with a variety of jobs and how to access and use various sources of occupation information. They provide students with an opportunity to explore occupations that interest them, to examine various aspects of work that relate to personal satisfaction, and to become aware of the meaning and importance of lifestyle and leisure in relationship to an occupation. They also help students develop the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate career information and work values and to anticipate and adjust to life career transitions. Activities such as career fairs, job shadowing, and field trips enhance the career exploration experience for students. These activities enable teachers to help students develop knowledge and skills to help them make appropriate decisions, have the confidence to take risks, and be flexible and adaptable when faced with change and life transitions. They learn the importance of goal setting and also about the most important skills and characteristics employers look for when hiring new employees. They also become aware of the relationships that exist between education and career planning and work and learning.

The materials provide teachers or counsellors with activities offering a step by step process of career guidance which can be easily implemented in classroom and students ́ groups.

The strength of this module is to gather (and remind) important theoretical principles (as learning styles, multiple intelligences…) and practical advice to cultivate the students’ talents and interests,for example planning extracurricular activities, developing entrepreneurial experiences at school, etc.

The most interesting and functional section for the type of students F.Datini IPS is the "SKILL & JOBS", to deepen the profile of the professionals and the levels of skills within the school.
Furthermore, the analysis of the job profiles of the different countries involved in the project highlights the actual demand in the labor market. It would be useful to have in the Italian language test to use them in school with our students. The clearly structured site, has a dress simple and straightforward graphics, and is quite simple to find the inserted content

The module focuses on how to unveil the interests and aptitudes of students in order to plan and implement personalized educational paths and guidance services which successfully valorise students’ talents. As balancing theory and practice is one of the principles of this tool the second module starts from theoretical considerations on interests, aptitudes and key competences as well as school autonomy and learning styles, which are practically supported by useful hands-on curricular and extracurricular activities, teaching methods used to capitalize on students’ interests and skills and an impressive collection of best practices, experiences, success stories as well as tips on how to use them in class. The chapter also highlights the important of parent involvement in children’s development and success at school and in life.
