Airline pilot
Description of the job profile
Airline pilot needs to have good teamwork skills, good concentration and hand-to-eye coordination, be able to remain calm, and take charge in an emergency.
- To check fuel and weather conditions.
- To communicate with flight attendants and perform crosschecks.
- To handle flight emergencies.
- To operate controls and steer aircraft if pilot is incapacitated
- To fly aircraft for other reasons, such as charter flights, rescue operations, firefighting, aerial photography, and crop dusting.
- To perform pre-flight checklist on engines, hydraulics, and other systems.
- To take information from air traffic controllers.
- To ensure that all cargo has been loaded and that the aircraft weight is properly balanced.

Qualifications required
University degree (bachelor and master) + specific training courses
- GCSEs and two A-levels
- Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL)
- Commercial license and instrument rating are required
- Airline transport pilot certificate 250 hours of flight experience for a commercial pilot's license, 1,500 hours of flight time for an airline transport pilot certificate
- possess passing scores on psychological and aptitude tests and pass a drug test
Total number of training hours
Working hours would be linked to flight destinations and could include nights, weekends and public holidays. Working hours are strictly regulated for safety reasons.

Previous Experience
Favor pilots should have 3,000 hours or more of flight time with half of these hours spent in a multi-engine aircraft, a minimum of 1,000 hours as a pilot in command of a jet (turbine) powered airplane.
At least 5 year experience is required.
Personal Attitude
A candidate must follow airport approach and lad instructions from air traffic control, carry put pre-flight checks and instruments, write flight reports after landing and including information about any aircraft change.
