Chapter 5: Collection of best practices, experiences, success stories
Success stories + Online Resources
These success stories present interesting cases, which teachers can use with their students in classes. It is well known how powerful examples can be. They can be effective ways to improve learning and experience as students learn better from examples than from the logical development of a theory. Such stories can generate animated class discussion and intense interaction between teacher and student, as well as among students in a group. They provide students with valuable lessons of life and examples to folow. Due to modern technology the interviews can be brought into the classrooms; virtual chats enable students themselves to interview the entrepreneurs and find answers to their own questions.

The materials highlight the different reasons why people choose their careers. For instance some people chose their career because it had been running into their families for several generations so they had been familiar with the field since they were born. They have been “in permanent contact with the family company.” Others discovered they had a certain penchant for a school subject, which they turned into a hobby and later on into a job. Some tried several fields until they found what they wanted.

The stories support the idea that learning is a lifelong endeavour which young people should pursue all their lives. They provide meaningful, real-life learning experiences which can help students make the right decisions for their future. The materials are rich in personal experience, which gives good food for thought, encourages discussions and gives excellent examples to follow. The inspiring examples presented will undoubtedly increase students’ motivation to learn, complete their education in order to reach their potential in life.

The strength of this module is to gather (and remind) important theoretical principles (as learning styles, multiple intelligences…) and practical advice to cultivate the students’ talents and interests, for example planning extracurricular activities, developing entrepreneurial experiences at school, etc.

The most interesting and functional section for the type of students F.Datini IPS is the "SKILL & JOBS", to deepen the profile of the professionals and the levels of skills within the school.
Furthermore, the analysis of the job profiles of the different countries involved in the project highlights the actual demand in the labor market. It would be useful to have in the Italian language test to use them in school with our students. The clearly structured site, has a dress simple and straightforward graphics, and is quite simple to find the inserted content

The module focuses on how to unveil the interests and aptitudes of students in order to plan and implement personalized educational paths and guidance services which successfully valorise students’ talents. As balancing theory and practice is one of the principles of this tool the second module starts from theoretical considerations on interests, aptitudes and key competences as well as school autonomy and learning styles, which are practically supported by useful hands-on curricular and extracurricular activities, teaching methods used to capitalize on students’ interests and skills and an impressive collection of best practices, experiences, success stories as well as tips on how to use them in class. The chapter also highlights the important of parent involvement in children’s development and success at school and in life.
